Oregon City SChool District Bond History

Over the course of the last 25 years, the Oregon City School District has made progress on a three phase long range capital development plan.

The first phase, was implemented with the passing of a bond in the year 2000 to renovate Oregon City High School. This renovation helped reduce overcrowding and allowed the school to have all grades 9-12 located in one building. Construction started in 2001 and was completed in 2003. The building, our current Oregon City High School, was built on the Moss Freshman campus and is conveniently located near Clackamas Community College.

The second phase began with the passing of a bond in 2018. This bond also focused on reducing overcrowding, but also updated the security in all schools, and upgraded our middle schools. With this bond, all schools had secure vestibules installed at their entrances, Tumwata middle school had a complete interior renovation, and Gardiner Middle School was completely rebuilt. Each building in our district benefitted from this bond. You can learn more about these individual benefits, visit this page here.

Now we’re embarking on the third and final phase of this plan. Where the first phase focused on the needs of our high school population, the second phase focused on our middle school population. Now, we are focusing on updating and making critical repairs to our elementary schools. Our elementary school buildings range from the age of 49 years old to 76 years old, the oldest having been built in 1948. Many community members who have grown up in our district, and now have children attending, learned in the very same buildings that are currently being used today.
